Taste of St. Louis: Sept. 21-23

Chouteau’s Landing continues its tradition of supporting regional artists and artwork with its 2007 Taste of St. Louis sponsorship. Chouteau’s Landing Gallery Row will be situated at the northwest corner of 10th and Chestnut during the 2-1/2 day Taste of St. Louis Festival that will occupy multiple Downtown city blocks located between 7th and 10th Streets and Chestnut and Market Streets.

The Taste of St. Louis is expected to welcome more than 150,000 guests from Friday, Sept. 21 to Sunday, Sept. 23. Chouteau’s Landing Gallery Row will include about 15 local galleries along with 30 juried artists. More than 50 artists applied for entrance into the Taste of St. Louis Juried Artist Exhibit. On Sunday, Sept. 23, judges will announce the first place winner and other honorees. The first place winner will be rewarded with a $1,500 cash prize, courtesy of Chouteau’s Landing’s sponsorship.

Chouteau’s Landing will also have a booth in Gallery Row. Be sure to visit to sign up for a raffle prize and to learn about exciting new advances for Chouteau’s Landing - an emerging district for inspired minds.

Thanks to local stencil artist Peat Wollaeger, Chouteau’s Landing’s “Beardy McGreen” made the July cover of St. Louis Magazine. Heading the 2007 A-List for his many artistic successes, including designing the new Mountain Dew bottle, Wollaeger posed in front of the “Beardy McGreen” mural he made during last fall’s Chouteau’s Cho-Down. Great work Peat!

Riley Goodwin Jr. is a trailblazer. Not only is he an independent entrepreneur, but he is also one of the first tenants of Chouteau’s Landing. For nearly four years, Riley’s Flowers and Gifts has called Historic Fourth Street home. Located at the corner of South Fourth Street and Chouteau Avenue, Riley’s Flowers will be one of the first to move into 904 S. Fourth Street once redevelopment is complete.

Introducing Bushwoods Bar and Grill

Chouteau’s Landing will open its doors on Historic Fourth Street in early 2008. The owner of The Firehouse Bar, located at 314 State Street in downtown Alton, IL, signed a lease in June 2007 to open a sports-themed bar and grill at 756 Historic Fourth Street in Chouteau’s Landing.

“I’m pleased to announce that the first Chouteau’s Landing tenant will be a bar and grill and will help build a sense of community in Chouteau’s Landing and the neighboring districts,” said Steve Murphy, director of Chivvis Development, which is overseeing the renovation of Chouteau’s Landing. “It’s exciting to be working with an entrepreneur that sees the amazing potential of this district and are eager to be part of the changing downtown landscape.”

While the Alton destination is a converted firehouse, owner Dustin Snyders drew on the cult-film classic, Caddyshack, in naming his latest venture Bushwoods. The 3,250-square-foot bar and grill is scheduled to include a 2,500-square-foot outdoor beer garden.

Construction and renovations to 756 Historic Fourth Street, located just behind Broadway Oyster Bar, are already underway. Snyders intends to be open for business in early 2008.

Chouteau’s Landing is excited to be among the leading sponsors for Wall Ball 2007 - the largest annual fundraiser event for SCOSAG (South City Open Studio And Gallery).
